About the product

Dehydrated onion is fresh onion that has been washed, peeled, sliced and dried under controlled heat until the moisture drops to roughly 5 percent. Removing the water concentrates the flavour compounds, stops microbial spoilage and cuts shipping weight by almost ninety percent — one kilogram of dehydrated flakes replaces close to ten kilograms of fresh bulbs, with none of the cold-chain risk.

We supply both white and red (pink) dehydrated onion. White onion is the industry default for soup bases, seasonings, sauces and savoury snack dust because it dries pale and keeps a clean, sweet-pungent profile. Red onion carries a stronger bite and a warmer colour, and is preferred in retail packs, chutneys and South Asian recipe blends where visible colour matters.

Every lot is milled to the exact cut a buyer asks for — from large kibbled pieces down to 100-mesh powder — then sieved so a specified percentage of the batch sits inside the agreed particle band. Because the crop is grown in the Mahuva and Bhavnagar belt of Gujarat, where low-pungency, high-solids varieties are cultivated specifically for dehydration, the finished product is consistent season after season.

Buyer questions

About Dry Onion.

What is the difference between granules and powder?+

Granules typically sit in the 20–40 mesh range and stay free-flowing, while powder is 60–100 mesh and disperses instantly. Granules resist caking better in humid markets; powder blends more evenly into liquids and fine seasonings.

Can you supply sulphur-free dehydrated onion?+

Yes. We can produce lots with no added sulphur, or hold SO2 under a specified ppm limit for markets with strict labelling rules.
