About the product
Jaggery — gud in Hindi, and one of the oldest sweeteners on the subcontinent — is unrefined cane sugar made by boiling fresh sugarcane juice until it thickens and sets. Because it is never spun in a centrifuge or bleached, it keeps the molasses, minerals and plant compounds that refining strips out: iron, magnesium, potassium and a small amount of B vitamins, along with the caramel colour and depth of flavour that make it unmistakable.
We work with producers who clarify the juice using traditional vegetable agents rather than chemical clarifiers, so the finished block carries no sulphur or synthetic residue. Colour ranges from golden amber to deep brown depending on the cane, the boiling time and the season — a natural variation, not a defect, though we grade to a colour band when a buyer requires consistency.
Formats include traditional blocks and cubes for retail and traditional trade, granules and free-flowing powder for beverage and bakery manufacturers, and certified organic lots for health-food and export buyers. Powdered grades dissolve readily and are increasingly used as a direct one-to-one replacement for refined sugar.

Buyer questions
About Jaggery / Gud.
Why does jaggery colour vary between shipments?+
Colour depends on cane variety, soil, boiling duration and the point in the crushing season. It is a natural variation; where a buyer needs uniformity we grade to an agreed colour band.
Which format works best for manufacturing?+
Powder and granules, because they dose accurately and dissolve fast. Blocks and cubes remain the preference for retail and traditional trade.
